The Ventura Film Festival operates as an all-inclusive international cinema festival that promotes recognition of ecological concerns including forest and sea protection and rehabilitation, via a yearly film showcase and corresponding activities. The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has captured notice from the worldwide filmmaking community. Memorable occasions have featured hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend together with Ian Cairns, 4 time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA fighter the celebrated Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which comprised receiving the entire Academy Award winning cast of West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris and Golden Globe honoree/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The founding executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was honored to take part, along with several of Hollywood's premier talents, in the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar honorees Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, along with Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
